Racer Shane Hmiel in Critical Condition After Qualifying Crash
Shane Hmiel (born May 15, 1980 in Pleasant Garden, North Carolina

According to a report by Ashley McCubbin over at bleacherreport.com, USAC officials say that Hmiel somehow managed to flip in turns three and four, bouncing the top of his roll cage off the wall. Initial reports claimed that Hmiel was not responding at the scene
Shane was then airlifted to Indianapolis’ Methodist Hospital, where he was then placed in the intensive care unit. An update that came at around 11pm EST, said that Shane was in an induced coma and was undergoing tests and treatment
